Meeting Agenda – January 13, 2010
Posted by hchristmas on January 4th, 2010 filed in MeetingsMark your calendars! The first meeting for 2010 has two programs scheduled. First, Gordon Storrs from Salt Lake Community College will present on their building plans for the South City campus over the next two years. Next, a representative from the Salt Lake Community Network, a coalition of Community Council chairs, will present on their concerns regarding the proposed alcohol zoning changes. The ordinances are just about to go before the Planning Commission, but there are a lot of unanswered questions about potential problems. If you are interested in this topic, the Salt Lake Planning Division will be hosting an open house on the subject on January 14 from 4:30 PM – 6:00 PM on the first floor of the City Council building at 451 S. State Street.

A representative from the Salt Lake Community Network will present on concerns SLCN has with the proposed Alcohol Zoning changes which the SLCN feels do not address some key potential problems. The proposed ordinance would allow alcohol‐serving establishments (Taverns, Restaurants, Dining Clubs, Brew Pubs and Social Clubs) in nearly every “commercial zone” in the city. Some possible locations are 3rd E. & 13th S., 4th E. & 13th S., 5th E. & 13th S., and most of the east side of State from 9th S. to 21st S. A complete map with permissible locations under the proposed ordinance will be available at the meeting. The Planning Commission will be voting on this issue on January 27th. They are specifically requesting Community Council input by then. - Announcements, Reminders: Next LWCC Board Meeting – Wednesday, January 20, 2010
