Congratulations, everyone. Thanks for your commitment to service!
For the last three years, it has been my pleasure to serve
as the Chair of the Liberty Wells Community Council.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of the fine residents
who have worked so hard to make our community better!!
Betty Eatchel, Secretary, for her tireless efforts, Shawn Foster for his legal advice and work on the CDBG Grant Citizens Review Board, Karen Gough for helping identify sidewalks that needed to be replaced and Marilyn Oblad for 1st Encampment activities. I especially want to recognize Chris Herrmann for his tireless efforts chairing Neighborhood Watch. Thanks to Dusty Smith, too!
Thanks to Galen Ewer for his help and participation in the Community Council. And much appreciation to Jeff Bair for organizing citizens to ensure that their concerns have been heard. We have the ability to have two opposing views on one issue — and yet can still work together to solve other problems facing our community.
I want to thank Devin Howells for his work and advice. Thank you, Holly Christmas for your design work on the Liberty Wells website, enabling us to reach more people in the neighborhood. Thank you to Debbie Bennett for designing our mass mailing brochures and celebration flyers. I am grateful for Julieann Hancock’s efforts to make her part of the Liberty Wells neighborhood safe, as well as her service to our country in Iraq. A special thanks goes out to Peter Robins for his work in organizing his Area’s Emergency Preparedness.
There are many others who have pitched in and helped that I have not named.
THANK YOU ALL!
I would also like to thank those in Salt Lake City government: LuAnn Clark, Sherrie Collins and Cindy Gust for their advice and help, Greg Johnson for his assistance for our CDBG Grants, Audrey Pierce, for obtaining Emergency Preparedness supplies, and great efforts by Michael Stott, Annette Daley and Lisa Harrison from the Mayor’s office. Thanks also to SLC Councilwoman Jill Remington Love and her admin, Nick Talbert. Beaucoup thanks to Penny Lazalde for her efforts in turning our sidewalk requests into actual sidewalks. Thank you also to Detectives Derek Christensen and Stephen Huffaker for their extra efforts to provide excellent service to our community. Much appreciation also to Rep. David Litvack and Salt Lake County Councilman Randy Horiuchi for their help and advice.
There are many on-going issues facing the Liberty Wells area — especially in zoning and crime. There is work still to do to make our Ron Heaps Memorial Park a reality. Kudos to the incoming Board of Directors and Executive Committee! They’ll bring fresh ideas to better involve community members, set goals and new ideas to achieve them. These are exciting time for our neighborhood. We have a real opportunity to make positive changes!
Thank you for the opportunity to serve our community for the
past three years as Chairman. …… James Fisher
